Went to the store today and. . . . .

Well, i tried to start a conversation with a complete stranger and as i figured they were too engrossed with their lives to even respond to me. How hard is it to talk to people nowadays? Are we really that antisocial?

I ask you, does this happen to you any? or is it just me.

  2. I don't mind talking with strangers. But that's sort of my job. The key is to keep it light hearted. Doing it at a store is kinda odd though.

  3. Personally, i am kind of awkward with people. People tend to disrespect me, so i just avoid people.

  4. I talk to people wherever. When I went to New York for the first time people were like "lol why do you say hi to strangers all the time?" and all I could say was "wasn't everyone you know a stranger at some point?"

  7. Now a days its so depressing, i get on a train and noone is talking, its just silence. People are so engrossed with their ipods their missing the real world. Interaction is critical for human development and this generation is just suffering

  8. Most people don't want to talk because they fear you might be trying to scam them...

  9. Nothing surprising there, people are wrapped up in their own lives to care about random strangers these days.

  16. I'm the opposite. I often have people making friendly conversation with me in the street and I feel too awkward to keep it going.

Also, clicked and followed and now need favour returned. :)

  24. Come to Sweden and try to talk to a complete stranger. People here are really silly. Last time I was on a bus, a woman went to the doors at her stop but they didn't open, and the driver didn't notice so he just continued driving. What did the woman do? She just stood there, quiet, said nothing. I mean, come on!

  27. It seems like nowadays if you speak to someone on the street, they auto think you're a creep or a weirdo. I wish it weren't like that anymore.

  36. Everyone looks down at thier shoes..awkward eye contact..nobody wants to talk these days. You are actually made to feel like a loon if you pluck up random conversation with someone.

Holy !@#$ man you literally just explained Vancouver. If someone does try to have a random conversation with me I just go along having a good time. I mean might as well as half the time it's on the bus or sky train; nothing else to do but look out the window or ask the driver how his day is.
