Well, i tried to start a conversation with a complete stranger and as i figured they were too engrossed with their lives to even respond to me. How hard is it to talk to people nowadays? Are we really that antisocial?
I ask you, does this happen to you any? or is it just me.
Yeah, most people are assholes nowadays. Now I just think, why bother.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind talking with strangers. But that's sort of my job. The key is to keep it light hearted. Doing it at a store is kinda odd though.
ReplyDeletePersonally, i am kind of awkward with people. People tend to disrespect me, so i just avoid people.
ReplyDeleteI talk to people wherever. When I went to New York for the first time people were like "lol why do you say hi to strangers all the time?" and all I could say was "wasn't everyone you know a stranger at some point?"
ReplyDeleteYou've got some good creativity in this blog!
ReplyDeletei normaly dont talk to strangers :)
ReplyDeleteNow a days its so depressing, i get on a train and noone is talking, its just silence. People are so engrossed with their ipods their missing the real world. Interaction is critical for human development and this generation is just suffering
ReplyDeleteMost people don't want to talk because they fear you might be trying to scam them...
ReplyDeleteNothing surprising there, people are wrapped up in their own lives to care about random strangers these days.
ReplyDeletethis happens a lot in my university, it's filled with reserved asians lol
ReplyDeletePOW POW POW
ReplyDeletenowreturnbyclickingadsandcommentingplease~
as Anthrax or Trust would say... ANTISOCIAL !
ReplyDeletewell talking to people in general is hard now and days cause were all scared were gonna kill eachother. but i would say hi atleast if someone talked to me in a store
ReplyDeleteit depends what you talk about...surely.
ReplyDeleteit allways happens, but not on taxi drivers
ReplyDeleteI'm the opposite. I often have people making friendly conversation with me in the street and I feel too awkward to keep it going.
ReplyDeleteAlso, clicked and followed and now need favour returned. :)

ReplyDeletewell, why would you talk to a complete stranger while shopping? it's just kinda ... creepy?
ReplyDeleteaGas, thats just the problem, why is that creepy? why do you think being friendly is creepy?
ReplyDeletePeople just don't fucking have souls these days. I'm an extremely friendly guy and would absolutely love to strike up conversation with anyone.
ReplyDeletePeople just don't care in America.
ReplyDeleteYeah.. That's weird.. I wish we were more kind to one another, and open :P
ReplyDelete@Paper As a New Yorker, we really don't say hello much. But, that's a shame, really.
ReplyDeletegood post, thanks for visiting me <3
ReplyDeleteCome to Sweden and try to talk to a complete stranger. People here are really silly. Last time I was on a bus, a woman went to the doors at her stop but they didn't open, and the driver didn't notice so he just continued driving. What did the woman do? She just stood there, quiet, said nothing. I mean, come on!
ReplyDelete"Are we really that antisocial?"
ReplyDeleteYes, if you work retail you will definitely notice this.
Thanks for your comments on my blog. Beating Inertia has a new Q&A post!
ReplyDeletehaha good post. I feel the same way sometimes
ReplyDeleteI get how you feel
ReplyDeleteIt seems like nowadays if you speak to someone on the street, they auto think you're a creep or a weirdo. I wish it weren't like that anymore.
ReplyDeleteI don't miind engaging in conversations with strangers, but usually only if they talk to me first.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone's starting to be like that nowadays.
ReplyDeleteI just did this today! And yupp, I was ignored and got a weird look :(
ReplyDeletehappens all the tiem brah
ReplyDeleteyou should have walked up and been like HII!!!!!! IM TALKING TO YOU. lol
ReplyDeletehappens all the time..
ReplyDeletesometimes i dont mind other times I just dont want to be bothered
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your point of view in this post
ReplyDeletethis makes me hate people
ReplyDeletei came back...what did you talk to them about?
ReplyDeleteEveryone looks down at thier shoes..awkward eye contact..nobody wants to talk these days. You are actually made to feel like a loon if you pluck up random conversation with someone.

Holy !@#$ man you literally just explained Vancouver. If someone does try to have a random conversation with me I just go along having a good time. I mean might as well as half the time it's on the bus or sky train; nothing else to do but look out the window or ask the driver how his day is.
